Fourteen Months of Detention Without a Verdict
Nasim Gholami Simiyari, born on July 13, 1988, has been in detention for nearly fourteen months. Despite a court session being held on June 30, 2024, in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, no verdict has been issued for her yet. This prisoner continues to remain in uncertainty in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
Joint Case with Seven Other Defendants
Ms. Gholami Simiyari is part of a joint case with seven other defendants: Hamidreza Sahlabadi, Ehsan Ravajiyan, Amin Sokhanvar, Ali Harati Mokhtari, Hossein Mohammad Hosseini, Amir Shah Velayati, and Hossein Ardestani.
Arrest and Transfer to Evin Prison
Nasim Gholami Simiyari was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents on May 18, 2023, in one of Tehran’s streets. After her arrest, she was transferred to IRGC’s Ward 1-A and placed in solitary confinement for interrogation. After two months, she was moved to Ward 2-A, and finally, on September 26, 2023, she was transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
Indictment and Torture in Detention
After five months of detention, she was indicted in Evin’s prosecutor’s office on charges of assembly and collusion, propaganda against the state, and Bagh-ye (armed insurgency).
During her detention, she was subjected to psychological and physical torture, and forced confessions were obtained from her. These confessions were dictated and made under coercion by the interrogator.
