Solitary Confinement and Hunger Strike
Maryam Mehrabi, a teacher imprisoned in Dolatabad Prison in Isfahan, has gone on a hunger strike to protest the psychological pressures, poor physical conditions, and separation from her children. She was moved to solitary confinement some time ago and has been hospitalized in the prison’s medical facility several times.
Arrest and Transfer to Prison
Maryam Mehrabi was arrested by security forces in Isfahan on June 18, 2024. This was her second arrest in the past year; in March 2023, while following up on her brother Mahmoud Mehrabi’s case at the Mobarakeh County Courthouse, she was detained by security forces and transferred to Dolatabad Prison. She was released on bail three days later.
Previous Sentence
In September last year, Mehrabi was sentenced by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of Mubarakeh to 74 lashes and three months in prison. However, this sentence was later converted to a monetary fine.
Family’s Concern
The lack of visitation and contact with Maryam Mehrabi has increased her family’s worries. This teacher, a resident of Isfahan, is enduring harsh conditions due to her confinement and separation from her loved ones.
