Parisa Kamali, a female political prisoner held in Yazd Central Prison, has sent out an audio message condemning the continued use of executions and state repression in Iran. She stated that efforts to preserve the ruling system through fear and intimidation will not succeed despite ongoing pressure and crackdowns.
In her message, Kamali referred to the continuation of executions since 1988, arguing that the authorities have sought to maintain their rule by intensifying repression and cultivating fear throughout society. However, she said this strategy has been met with growing public resistance and anger, declaring that “we have moved beyond fear and are filled with anger.”
The political prisoner also called on the international community and human rights organizations not to remain indifferent to executions and human rights violations in Iran. She urged them to take effective and practical measures to halt executions and what she described as a “killing machine.”
Translated Text of Parisa Kamali’s Audio Message
“We are a people who have lived with grief for generations. Before we even recovered from the pain of the state killings in January, our wounds are reopened once again. From 1988 until today, bloodshed has continued. The ruling clerical establishment has relied on executions and repeated killings to spread fear and terror in an effort to prolong its survival, but it has failed. We have overcome the fear of death and are filled with anger. We believe the day will come when execution will no longer have a place in our country’s constitution.
We call on the international community and human rights organizations not to turn a blind eye to the crimes and killings carried out against the people by the authorities. Through appropriate decisions and actions, they must work to stop this killing machine. No to executions. In hope of a free and prosperous Iran.”
Who is Parisa Kamali?
Parisa Kamali Ardakani was arrested on April 29, 2024, in Isfahan and initially taken to Dowlatabad Prison. She is facing three separate cases brought against her in Isfahan and Ardakan, all involving various security-related accusations.
In 2025, Parisa Kamali Ardakani was transferred from Dowlatabad Prison in Isfahan to Yazd Prison.
After accepting the court’s ruling (“taslim be ra’y”), her combined sentence was reduced to three and a half years.
Parisa Kamali Ardakani was born in 1986 in Abadan, is married and a geography student.
