Atefeh Hassani, a detained Iranian citizen and the sister of political prisoner Mohammad Hassani—currently held at Karaj Central Prison—has been kept in limbo at Fardis Prison in Karaj for over 110 days without trial or formal charges.
Security forces arrested her in early January 2025 at her family home in Karaj. Following an interrogation period in a security detention center, she was transferred to Fardis Prison (Kachouii). More than three months later, no court hearing has been held to address the accusations against her, and her legal case remains in a state of uncertainty.
Atefeh Hassani has been accused of “membership in groups opposed to the state.” Despite this, the judiciary has yet to take any formal legal action, and no trial has been scheduled to examine the charges.
Her case exemplifies the ongoing pattern of prolonged detentions without charge or trial in the Iranian regime’s judicial system—a practice that continues to raise serious concerns over violations of fundamental rights and disregard for principles of due process and fair trial.
