Over 210 days have passed since the arrest of Hoda Mehreganfar and her father. The two political prisoners remain indefinite detention at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz without access to legal representation or a court hearing.
Alarming reports indicate a serious decline in their physical health, compounded by a lack of proper medical care.
Hoda Mehreganfar, a 35-year-old electronics engineer, has developed severe fungal infections and dermatological issues due to the unsanitary conditions in the women’s ward.
Her health has drastically deteriorated, especially given that she had undergone surgery shortly before her arrest. The absence of adequate medical attention has placed her in critical condition.
Her father, Mohammad Ali Mehreganfar, 66, a former political prisoner during the 1980s, is suffering from serious heart problems and requires urgent eye surgery.
Despite medical recommendations for immediate treatment, prison authorities have failed to take any effective action.
At around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, security agents stormed their home in Zarqan, and arrested Hoda Mehreganfar and her father without providing any warrant.
Following their arrest, they were transferred to Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.
A preliminary hearing for the father and daughter was held via video conference on March 30, 2025. They were accused of alleged connections with an opposition group during this session. Despite the extended detention period, they have not been granted release on bail.
The continued legal limbo of these two political detainees, coupled with the denial of medical treatment, exemplifies the ongoing human rights violations and lack of regard for human dignity within the judicial and security apparatus of the Iranian regime.
