Ferdows Mahboubi (Mother Mosanna), one of the steadfast supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), passed away in Tehran on March 31, 2026, at the age of 90.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to all members of the Iranian resistance community on the sorrowful passing of this heroic mother.
Ferdows Mahboubi began her political activism in 1974–1975, following the arrest of her son Morteza Mosanna by the Shah’s regime, and joined protests organized by families of political prisoners.
After June 20, 1981, she was arrested by the authorities of the clerical regime and spent approximately four years in Evin and Ghezel Hesar prisons. During this period, she endured the execution of her sons Ali, Mostafa, and Morteza Mosanna, as well as her daughter-in-law Nahid Rahmani, at the hands of the mullahs’ regime.
She was arrested again on January 17, 2009, while attempting to visit her children in Ashraf City, Iraq, and remained imprisoned for several weeks.
In the 2010s, due to advanced age, Mahboubi suffered from osteoporosis and underwent three surgeries. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the regime’s Executive Headquarters, known as the Imam’s Command, confiscated and sealed her residence where she lived with her grandchildren, leaving them homeless. Previously, her place of business had also been seized by the regime.
Ferdows Mahboubi, who sacrificed four family members for the cause of a free Iran, remained a devoted supporter of the Iranian resistance for more than five decades.
Her memory and legacy of courage and resilience will forever be honored.
