Zeinab Moayyedi, known fondly as “Mahboubeh” by her family, was born in 1998 and lived in Shaft, Gilan Province in northern Iran. She was martyred on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026, after being shot by the regime’s suppressive forces during the nationwide uprising in Shaft.
On that evening, while returning home with her husband, Zeynab noticed an injured protester bleeding on the street. She immediately took off her scarf to bandage the protester’s wound and stop the bleeding. At that very moment, she was directly shot in the left thigh with live ammunition and severely wounded.
Her husband rushed her to the hospital, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While her hemoglobin dropped to a critical level of 3, requiring an urgent blood transfusion, security agents and IRGC forces present at the hospital forcibly prevented the medical staff from administering blood. As a result of losing the critical golden window for treatment, Zeynab suffered severe hemorrhagic shock and passed away.
Following her death, the clerical regime exerted intense pressure on Zeynab’s family to falsely identify her as a member of the Basij militia. However, her family steadfastly resisted the regime’s propaganda machine.
