Hoda Mehreganfar, a 38-year-old electronics engineer and political prisoner, is facing a critical health crisis in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. Despite her deteriorating condition, security agencies continue to block her transfer to a hospital. This deliberate disregard for medical warnings has placed her life in grave danger.
According to informed sources, Hoda Mehreganfar’s endometrioma cyst has recurred, posing a serious risk of rupture and internal infection. The prison doctor had previously emphasized the urgent need for hospitalization, but authorities have refused to comply, citing “direct orders from security agencies.”
She is reportedly suffering from chronic pain, high fever, and severe weakness, and has been denied even the prescribed medications to manage her illness. Family sources say, “Hoda is being held in conditions where she can neither rest nor receive proper nutrition. Her physical state worsens by the day.”
Denied Family Visits, Psychological Pressure Intensifies
In addition to being deprived of medical care, Hoda Mehreganfar has been barred from visiting her father, Mohammad-Ali Mehreganfar. Her 66-year-old father is being held in custody of Shiraz Intelligence services, despite suffering from heart disease and vision problems, and is also denied adequate medical attention.
The ongoing denial of treatment and arbitrary detention of Hoda Mehreganfar in Adelabad Prison exemplify the Iranian regime’s inhumane treatment of political prisoners, especially women protesters. Such actions turn the health and lives of detainees into tools of political repression and retaliation.
Background on Hoda Mehreganfar
At around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, security agents stormed their home in Zarqan, and arrested Hoda Mehreganfar and her father without providing any warrant.
After several months, they were transferred to Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.
A preliminary hearing for the father and daughter was held via video conference on March 30, 2025. They were accused of alleged connections with the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) during this session.
