The United Nation’s latest report on Human Development was officially published yesterday. UN declared in its report: “Iran has been ranked 107th of 194 countries in the issue of gender discrimination.”
Women’s inequality is identified from 0 to 1 figures. The more the number is higher, the more it indicates a lack of equality between men and women in a country.
Accordingly, in comparison with the UN’s 2011 published report, the rate of inequality has increased. It is indicated in 2011 UN report that Iran was at a 0.485 level while this year’s increased to 0.496. According to the report the death rate of mothers in Iran during 2010 was, 21 mothers per 100 thousand births. Adult fertility rate in 2012 was 25 births out of 1000 women aged 15 to 19. Women’s share in the parliaments was 3.1% seats in 2012. (Asre Iran March 16, 2013)
