Anissa Benameur – Former Minister, Algeria
Before starting, I want to say a few words from my heart, dear Maryam, the admiration I have towards your commitment and refusal to submit is exemplary in many respects. I welcome and greet all those who every day, despite sufferings, both physical and moral, continue to serve their beliefs.
Some gave their lives as Ashraf Rajavi, as Neda and Sedigheh, and many thers. I come from Algeria. In other words, I know, like all the Algerian people, the horrors of Islamic fundamentalists, who I must say, are not fanatics, as the West likes to describe in general. They are simply crazy for power.
That is why we understand the suffering our brothers and sisters in Iran, both inside Iran and abroad, obviously in Ashraf and camp Liberty are enduring. It looks much more like a death row than a freedom camp. We suffer with your suffering and we have not stopped to support you. We need not to close our eyes but to remember the men and women, who suffer, die from violence of fundamentalism.
I would say religion does not suit them, because this is not religion. What a shame for humanity to be silent before these atrocities! The men and women of Ashraf know their life is in fear. Because not only the international community, particularly the UN fails to act, be it within the framework of its powers and its instruments, but also provides allies to Maliki, through Martin Kobler which undoubtedly had to sell his soul to the devil, perhaps, but surely it was sold for a few dollars.
