Two months after their arrest, the mother, sister, and brother of Babak Alipour, a political prisoner who was executed by the clerical regime in Iran on March 31, remain effectively held hostage by the regime’s authorities.
Omolbanin Dehghan, 63, the mother of Babak Alipour, was an active participant in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign. She was arrested on January 26, 2026, in Tehran along with her daughter Maryam Alipour, 31, and her son Roozbeh Alipour, 40. Currently, Omolbanin Dehghan and Maryam Alipour are being held in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, while Roozbeh Alipour is under interrogation in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
The family was denied the right to a final visit with Babak Alipour prior to his execution. Authorities also refused to return his body to the family for burial.
In a related development, on March 29, security forces arrested Vali Zoghi-Tabar, the father of PMOI political prisoner Shahin Zoghi-Tabar, at his home and transferred him to an undisclosed location. This occurred while he was recovering from two surgical procedures and in need of medical care.
Execution of two more PMOI political prisoners
The clerical regime also executed another two PMOI political prisoners this morning, April 4, 2026. They were Vahid Bani Amerian, 33, and Abolhassan Montazer, 66.

The parents of Vahid Bani Amerian were active participants in the No to Execution Tuesday campaigns, demanding a halt to executions in Iran, including the execution of their son.

Vahid Bani Amerian was electrical engineer with a master’s degree in management and an elite graduate. He was arrested in January 2024. He had been arrested several times since 2017 and spent a total of six years in prison.
Abolhassan Montazer was an architectural engineer and a political prisoner from both the Shah’s era and the 1980s, had been arrested multiple times in 2017, 2018, and 2020. He was last arrested on December 21, 2023. In total, he spent over 11 years in the mullahs’ regime’s prisons.
