Three female political prisoners received a total of 12 years in prison for supporting the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
Tehran’s Revolutionary Court sentenced three female political prisoners to a total of 12 years on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “assembly and collusion against national security” through cooperating with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.
The three female political prisoners are Makhsus Bukharaei, 63, Azar Musazadeh, 59, and Roghayeh Sultan Mirzaei, 69. The former two received five years each, and the latter received two years.
The clerical regime’s Judiciary also confiscated the garden belonging to Mrs. Mirzaei.
The decree handed down by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran states that the three female political prisoners had “assembled and colluded” in Mrs. Mirzaei’s garden.
Four members of Mrs. Mirzaei’s family have been executed by the clerical regime.
All three women were political prisoners in the 1980s and already spent long years in prison.
Mrs. Musazadeh’s husband was among the PMOI political prisoners massacred in 1988.
Azar Musazadeh and Makhsus Bukharaei had also been arrested in the 2010s and imprisoned for several years.
The Revolutionary Court of Tehran had previously sentenced another four female political prisoners supporting the opposition PMOI to an additional 60 months in prison. The four women who are presently detained in Qarchak Prison are Zahra Safaei, Parastoo Moini, Forough Taghipour, and Marzieh Farsi.
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran once again urges the UN, the EU, and its member states, and all advocates of human rights to condemn the heavy prison sentences issued for these prisoners and take immediate action to secure the release of Iranian political prisoners, especially the women.
The clerical regime’s dossier of human rights violations must be referred to the United Nations and its officials brought to justice.
