On the verge of the Student Day in Iran on December 7, the criminal Basij elements of the mullahs’ regime in Jahrom County (Fars Province, southern Iran) wounded at least six women with knife strokes, five of whom students from Jahrom University. This criminal act followed recent protests by 300 students in Jahrom University where students protested against the suppressive measures in the university.
The Basij elements involved in this crime and who were identified by the students are the leader of the suppressive organ called Motalefe and three other elements who rode motorcycles. One of them is a hooligan from Basij called Mohammad Beheshti. His father, IRGC Colonel Jalil Beheshti, has been the commander of the Basij in Qotbabad region of Jahrom County.
Mrs. Chitsaz, Chair of NCRI Women’s Committee, condemned this criminal act against female students and said: “In the 35 years of its infamous rule, the misogynic regime of mullahs in Iran has done nothing for the Iranian women but to institutionalize violence, discrimination and ceaseless suppression against them. These heinous attacks against young female students that follow the criminal acid attacks on defenseless women in October, are but the reaction of the clerical regime to the growing loath of Iranian people for this regime, especially the growing women’s movement, in order to confront the rising protests and the explosive state in the society.”
Ms. Chitsaz called on all Iranian women and youth to protest against these violent acts and urged all human rights bodies and organs, especially the defenders of women’s and students’ rights, to condemn these atrocities.
