Maryam Naghash Zargaran, (Nassim) was allowed a short 4-day leave from 8 to 12 November, after 17 months of imprisonment. Upon return to prison, she was faced with unusual demands from the female guards to go naked in front of other prisoners. Shocked by this demand, she was subjected to beating and a full body search and sexual abuse by the female guards.
She was so traumatized that she is in a state of mental shock since, and has not recovered. Her physical condition has deteriorated as well. Maryam, was suffering from heart problems and had recently undergone heart surgery…
Maryam Naghash Zargaran, is a 36 year-old Christian. She was first arrested in the winter of 2012 under charges of “acting against national security”. After a court hearing, she was sentenced to four years prison. She has been in prison since June 2013.
