Parisa Kamali, a political prisoner held in the women’s ward of Yazd Prison, has been on a medication and hunger strike since November 24, 2025, in protest against the authorities’ failure to address her legal demands and the reported “disappearance” of her case file.
Since the start of her strike, all contact with her family has been cut off, and she has been transferred to the prison’s quarantine ward.
Parisa Kamali’s physical condition has severely deteriorated due to her untreated toxic thyroid condition and the authorities’ refusal to provide her with essential medication. The abrupt halt of her medical treatment has exacerbated her symptoms, causing extreme physical weakness and vision problems.
In recent months, Kamali’s family has repeatedly approached judicial authorities to follow up on her case and secure proper medical care for her. However, officials have told them that her case file has “gone missing” This announcement prompted Parisa Kamali to begin her hunger strike inside the prison.
Although officials had previously informed her family that she could be released under electronic monitoring, judicial authorities later reversed their position and claimed that her file had “been lost”, a development that has intensified concerns about her safety and legal status.
Parisa Kamali, born in 1986, is married and a geography student residing in Yazd. She was arrested on April 30, 2024, in Isfahan and transferred to Dowlatabad Prison. She was later sentenced to six years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state,” “destruction of public property,” and “membership in the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK).” After she accepted the verdict under the “satisfaction with the ruling” procedure, her sentence was reduced to three and a half years.
