In the early hours of Saturday, November 8, 2025, Zahra Mir-Ghaffari, a 43-year-old Turk woman from Hashtrud, was hanged in Tabriz Central Prison.
Zahra Mir-Ghaffari had been arrested around five years ago on drug-related charges and was subsequently sentenced to death.
In a search of her home storage area, authorities discovered four kilograms of narcotics. She was the mother of two daughters, aged 9 and 13.
Despite the implementation of the sentence, no official media outlets or judiciary-affiliated news agencies in Iran have reported on her execution as of the time of this writing.
Under the mullahs’ rule in Iran, the operatives of the Revolutionary Guards’ network, who traffic vast quantities of narcotics and addict the youth of Iran and the Middle East, openly supply prisoners in the regime’s jails with drugs to break their resistance. Those responsible not only face no punishment but enjoy lives of extreme luxury, while vulnerable individuals such as Zahra Mir-Ghaffari, driven by extreme poverty and unemployment, are sentenced to death and executed.
Iran, the world record holder in executing women
With the execution of Zahra Mir-Ghaffari in Tabriz Central Prison, the number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2025 has reached 49, marking an unprecedented record in the execution of women in Iran. In the entire 2024, 34 women were executed across the country.
According to data recorded by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, at least 312 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
Many of the women executed by the Iranian regime are themselves victims of domestic violence and discriminatory family laws. A significant number have acted in self-defense.
In the Iranian calendar Year 1403, at least 38 women were executed in Iran, marking a disturbing 90% increase compared to the previous year.
Since Masoud Pezeshkian took office, the clerical regime has executed more than 2,200 prisoners.
Silence and inaction in the face of the murderers of the Iranian people fuel terrorism, suppression, and warmongering. The regime of execution and terror must be shunned by the international community, and its dossier of human rights violations must be referred to the United Nations Security Council.
