Homeless Baluch Women Protest in Chabahar After Home Demolitions

November 9, 2025
in Women's News

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, a group of homeless Baluch women held a protest outside the Chabahar Governor’s Office after their homes were recently demolished in the Kamb district of Chabahar. Holding their children, the women demanded accountability from local authorities and an immediate halt to the ongoing arbitrary demolitions.

According to videos circulated online, one of the protesting homeless Baluch women said: “No one is answering us. The governor’s office sends us to the Housing Foundation, and they send us elsewhere. We’ve been sleeping on the streets for days, and no official takes responsibility.”

Sunday’s gathering followed widespread outrage over the large-scale demolition of homes belonging to Baluch residents in Chabahar’s Doshanbeh-Bazaar area.

In the early hours of November 2, more than 300 security personnel, supported by dozens of military and civilian vehicles, surrounded the neighborhood and demolished dozens of homes without presenting any court order.

Many families were left homeless, their belongings buried under the rubble. Witnesses reported that even personal and religious items, including copies of the Quran, were destroyed.

One female head of household lost her home and all her possessions during the raid, while her brother was hospitalized after being severely beaten by security forces. More than a week after the incident, none of the relevant institutions, including the Chabahar Governor’s Office, the Housing Foundation, or the City Council, have responded to the plight of dozens of displaced families.

In recent years, the demolition of homes belonging to indigenous Baluch residents in the outskirts of Chabahar and Konarak has repeatedly occurred under the pretext of implementing the “Makran Coast Development Plan.”

Residents view these demolitions as a deliberate attempt to seize land and displace the native population of Baluchistan. The continuation of this policy constitutes a blatant violation of the right to housing, security, and human dignity of the Baluch people.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
