At least eight Iranian schools and a conservatory in Shahin Shahr, Isfahan, including Manouchehr Ansari Girls’ School, Al-Yasin Girls’ High School, and Fahmideh School, were attacked with toxic gas on Tuesday, April 11.
Female students from Shayan Girls’ School in Isfahan, Enghelab-e Eslami in Tabriz, Khadijeh Kobra in Ashnooyeh, Shima Moradi in Kermanshah, and one school in Bandar Gonaveh are among the other victims of this crime.
The Iranian regime has denied the attacks, with officials at some schools preventing the entry of students’ parents and ambulances to the schools. Some families have had to take their children to medical centers due to the lack of ambulances.
Iranian female students have been targeted in a spate of chemical attacks across the country. The attacks, which have been ongoing since April 3, have affected Iranian schools in Tehran and the cities of Ardebil, Pardis, Karaj, Dolat Abad, Isfahan, Shahin Shahr, Tabriz, Maragheh, Ajabshir, Naqadeh, Piranshahr, Urmia, Oshnavieh, Bandar Genaveh, Haftkel, Kuhenjan Sarvestan, Qom, Sanandaj, Saqqez, Divandareh, Kermanshah, and Amol.
Some members of the mullahs’ parliament have expressed surprise that the State Security Force can use CCTV cameras to identify improperly veiled women, but it cannot identify the perpetrators of this heinous crime. (The state-run ISNA news agency – April 10, 2023)
Some officials have downplayed the attacks, with one member of the Parliament’s education committee, Mehrdad Vais Karami, stating that “there was no poisoning at all” and that some students had only felt ill due to the smell of oil.
Raisi’s government has not provided any information on the perpetrators of the attacks or the type of chemicals used.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and it is unclear when the government will release a report on the attacks.
