Branch 36 of the Revision Court of Tehran Province sentenced Sarvnaz Ahamdi to three years and six months in jail for “assembly and collusion to disrupt national security.”
Sarvnaz Ahmadi was arrested with her husband on November 6, 2022, during the nationwide protests.
The preliminary trial examining her charges was held at Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran. Sarvnaz Ahmadi was sentenced to 5 years for “assembly and collusion to disrupt national security” and one year for “propaganda against the state,” six years of imprisonment in total.
Sarvnaz Ahmadi was temporarily released on bail on December 7, 2022.
Tahereh Bejervani sentenced to 1.5 years in prison
The 1st Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Shahriar sentenced Tahereh Bejervani to one year and six months in prison.
Tahereh Bejervani is the widow of Ali Fotouhi, one of the martyrs of the November 2019 uprising. She is presently detained in Evin Prison. She is charged with “insulting the (mullahs’) leader.”
Tahereh Bejervani was arrested on December 21, 2022, at her workplace in Shahrak-e Quds. Security forces took her to the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center, Ward 209 of Evin Prison. She was transferred to the women’s ward of Evin after 33 days and the completion of her interrogations.
Elham Afkari released with an electronic tag on her ankle
Elham Afkari was released on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from Adelabad Prison of Shiraz. She will serve her five-year sentence under house arrest with an electronic leg tag on her ankle.
Elham Afkari is the sister of the national champion, Navid Afkari, who was hanged in Adelabad Prison on September 13, 2020. Navid was arrested and detained during the protests in August 2018. He was charged with “waging war on God” and sentenced to double execution, 6.5 years in jail, and 74 lashes. He was not informed of his execution and did not see his family for a last time.
Elham Afkari was arrested on November 10, 2022, and transferred to Shiraz’s Department of Intelligence detention center.
Elham Afkari sought justice for her brother. State media announced her charge as “intending to disrupt national security by participating in the calls by government opponents in the virtual space.” She was sentenced to five years in prison and banned from leaving the country and activities in cyberspace for two years.
