The 15th Branch of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court sentenced Sarvnaz Ahmadi to 6 years in prison.
If the sentence is approved during the appeal stage, Article 134 of the regime’s Penal Code – the harshest punishment of 5 years – will be implemented for Mrs. Ahmadi.
Sarvnaz Ahmadi is a children’s rights activist. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Welfare Sciences in Velenjak, Tehran. She and her spouse, Kamyar Fakur, a labor activist, were arrested by security forces in Tehran on November 6, 2022, and detained in Evin Prison.
Mrs. Ahmadi was temporarily released on December 7, 2022, after posting bail.
The court held a hearing on the accusations against Sarvnaz Ahmadi and her spouse Kamyar Fakur on January 4, 2023, in Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court.
Sarvnaz Ahmadi was sentenced to 5 years on charges of “assembly and collusion to disrupt national security” and one year for “propaganda against the state” for six years in prison. Her defense attorney could not participate in the court session, and the hearing was held without the lawyer’s presence.
Neda Mohseni sentenced to 8 years and banned from leaving the country
Isfahan Branch 1’s Revolutionary Court sentenced Neda Mohseni to 8 years in prison and a 2-year ban on leaving the country. She is required to participate in the “Behavior Management and Crime Prevention” course provided by Isfahan Justice Department.
Neda Mohseni is accused of being a “leader of riots” and “encouraging people to engage in war and killing.” But she denied being a leader and indicated that she had done no more than carry mineral water in her bag.
Neda Mohseni, a 35-year-old resident of Isfahan, is a sociologist who tours Iran. She was arrested on September 24, 2022, during a public protest gathering in Isfahan. She was subjected to mental and physical torture to make a forced confession so that authorities could file a case against her. According to social media, government authorities did not respond to inquiries by Neda Mohseni’s family.
Neda Mohseni suffers from psoriasis (a skin disease) and needs urgent treatment. Her family has repeatedly appealed to the relevant authorities on her behalf to receive treatment, but they have not agreed to her temporary release to complete the treatment.
One-year sentence for Mateen Soleimani
The Tehran Province Court of Appeals sentenced Mateen Soleimani to 1 year of imprisonment.
Mateen Soleimani, a senior student of dramatic literature at Tehran University, was transferred to Dowlat Abad Prison in Isfahan on February 1, 2023, to serve her 1-year sentence.
In the first phase, Branch 1 of Isfahan’s Revolutionary Court sentenced Ms. Soleimani to 2 years, 74 lashes, and a fine of 1 million tomans on charges of “disturbing the public order, removal of the hijab, and propaganda activity against the state.”
At the appeal stage, she was sentenced to 1 year in prison and fined 1 million tomans on charges of “disturbing the public order and removing the hijab.” She was also required to participate in a behavior management course and is not allowed to leave the country for two years.
Mateen Soleimani was arrested during protests in Isfahan on September 19, 2022, and was released on bail shortly thereafter.
Negar Davoudi sentenced to 2 years in prison
Negar Davoudi was sentenced by the Ilam Revolutionary Court and the Ilam Criminal Court to 2 years and three months in prison, 74 lashes, and a 2-year ban on leaving the country. She must take 200 hours of Quranic teaching and interpretation classes and obtain a certificate and approval from the Propaganda Organization of Ilam Province.
Negar Davoudi, a student at Ilam National University, was arrested by the security forces on November 15, 2022, during the nationwide uprising. After a week, she was transferred from the Ilam Intelligence Department’s detention center to the women’s ward of the Ilam Central Prison. She was temporarily released on December 18 after posting a bail of 500 million tomans.
Mrs. Davoudi was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment in Branch 1 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit a crime against internal/external security” and to 1 year of forced volunteer work for the Ilam Welfare Department on charges of “insulting the leadership.”
Branch 103 of the Criminal Court of Ilam also sentenced Negar Davoudi to 3 months imprisonment, 74 lashes, a 2-year ban on leaving the country, and participation in Quran interpretation classes for 200 hours on charges of “disturbing the public order and peace.” She must obtain a certificate of completion and approval from the Propaganda Organization of Ilam Province.
Because Davoudi did not have a criminal record, the Criminal Court of Ilam converted Davoudi’s sentence of 3 months imprisonment and 74 lashes to a fine of 24 million tomans to the government fund.
