Zohreh Sarv is taken to Qarchak prison instead of the hospital
Political prisoner Zohreh Sarv was taken from Evin prison on January 24, 2023, to Qarchak Prison instead of Taleghani Hospital.
According to social media reports, Zohreh Sarv was infected with the Coronavirus in Evin prison. The prison clinic mistakenly diagnosed her illness as a cold, and she was deprived of treatment for a long time.
After a lengthy denial of treatment, Zohreh Sarv was transferred to Tehran’s Shohada Hospital in Tajrish. After conducting tests, it was determined that the infection caused by the Coronavirus remained in her body due to lack of timely treatment. Finally, she was treated by prescribing some antibiotic tablets, which did not lead to her complete recovery.
Zohreh Sarv’s family said: Due to the persistence of the disease, she was denied the third dose of the Coronavirus vaccine. Therefore, they are worried about the spread of this infection to Ms. Sarv’s heart and lungs.
Regarding the transfer of Ms. Sarv to Qarchak Prison, a source said: “We still don’t know why Ms. Sarv was transferred from Evin prison to Qarchak prison under the pretext of sending her to Taleghani hospital.”
The online activist was arrested on December 24, 2019, by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) intelligence agents for allegedly operating in cyberspace and managing an Instagram page. After being transferred to Ward 1A during interrogation and arraignment proceedings, she was transferred to Qarchak Prison on January 11, 2020.
Political prisoner Zohreh Sarv was sentenced to a fine and 74 lashes on charges of possessing alcoholic beverages. The sentence was handed down by Branch 2 of Tehran’s Criminal Court. Political prisoner Zohreh Sarv was lashed 74 times on April 5, 2021. Before this date, she had been set to pay a fine instead of being lashed. However, after paying the fine and delivering the receipt to the Implementation Division, she discovered that her case had already been closed.
Political prisoner Zohreh Sarv was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment by Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on charges of “insulting the leadership, propaganda against the state, assembly, and collusion with the intention of acting against the security of the country.” The sentence was made final by the Appeals Court of Tehran Province to 5 years imprisonment.
