The 19th day of protests in Iran continued with high school and university students holding rallies in various cities.

High school students chanted “Death to the dictator” while marching in the capital’s streets and other cities.

In Karaj, they chanted, “I will kill whoever killed my sister!” referring to Mahsa Amini, the young woman who died in the custody of the morality police on September 16. She went into a coma for three days after guidance patrols hit her head with successive blows of batons. Her skull fractured, and she suffered a brain hemorrhage.

High school students in Shiraz also held a rally and chanted, “Khamenei will be overthrown this year!” They tore the images of Khamenei and Khomeini, the mullahs’ supreme leaders, from their textbooks and stomped on them.

Young girls in Saqqez, Mahsa Amini’s hometown, and Marivan, Iranian Kurdistan, also marched in the streets and chanted anti-regime slogans.

High school students in Saqqez and Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan, also joined their students by going on strike, demanding the release of their fellow imprisoned teachers.

University students also held rallies on the 19th day of the Iran protests.

Students of Khajeh Nassir University in Tehran chanted, “This is not a protest anymore; it is the beginning of a revolution!”

The students of Tehran University’s School of Management, Melli, Az-Zahra, and Science and Industry universities in Tehran, Imam Reza, and Ferdowsi Universities in Mashhad, the medical schools of the universities of Gilan, Tabriz, Zanjan, and Bushehr, the Noshirvani University in Babol, the universities of Sanandaj, Qom, Yazd, Semnan, Isfahan, Urmia, were among the protesters.

The medical students of Gilan University held placards, demanding freedom as their right, as well as the release of their fellow students. Some of their placards read, “Ambulances are for carrying the sick,” referring to the Iranian regime’s use of ambulances to transfer the arrested protesters to prison.

In the wake of the bloody crackdown on worshipers in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province, last Friday, September 30, 2022, the shops are closed. Their owners are on strike in solidarity with the nationwide protests.

Some shop owners and farmers in Isfahan joined in by closing their shops and marching on the streets.

Nika Shakarami

State agents bury the body of Nika Shakarami in a remote village

In Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan Province, western Iran, security forces snatched the body of Nika Shakarami and buried her in a remote village despite her family’s opposition.

Reports say the agents have also arrested her aunt.

Nika Shakarami’s body was handed over to her family on Friday, September 30, after ten days of looking for her, reliable sources reported.

Nika Shakarami, 17, had participated in Tehran protests on Keshavarz Blvd. on September 20. Her friends said she was fearless and chanted slogans ceaselessly. In her last call to her friend, Nika Shakarami said she was running away from security services.

Her family looked for her everywhere in all prisons, detention centers, police stations, and even the forensics office of Kahrizak. Finally, on September 29, at the police station, the Shakarami family was told that someone with similar specifics had been found in Kahrizak forensics.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
