Two women from Behbahan were summoned to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office on April 25, 2021. They were instructed to report to the Prosecutor within five days.
Behbahan, located in the southwestern Khuzestan Province, is one of the highly active cities during the November 2019 nationwide uprising in Iran.
The two women from Behbahan have been identified as Farzaneh Ansarifar and Zeinab Alipour.
Before the summoning, Ms. Ansarifar had been summoned to the Department of Intelligence in Behbahan and questioned on April 21.
The two women from Behbahan had been previously summoned to the interrogation’s office of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Behbahan in November 2020. Both women are charged with insulting the mullahs’ supreme leader, participation in disruption of public order and national security, and assembly and collusion to commit a crime against internal and external security.
Farzaneh Ansarifar and Zeinab Alipour, 39, were arrested last year on July 16, 2020, for participating in a protest in the city’s Bank Melli Square against the country’s bankrupt economy and the death sentences issued for protesters.
Both women were temporarily released on bail after a week.
Ms. Ansari’s brother, Farzad, was shot and killed by security forces during the protests in November 2019 in Behbahan.
