Last night, my father, who has been on hunger strike for 15 days, was sent to hospital. After being in jail for 16 years he has experienced all kinds of conditions and punishments.
I ask myself, what made my father go on hunger strike this time for being transferred from one ward to another? Truly, do you think he raised his demands because he could not tolerate being transferred to another location, while he has already tolerated much harsher conditions?
It is naive to think this way. This time, my father is not protesting just being relocated. This time, he is upset about organized harassment by the prosecutor and prison authorities, and the measures imposed based on suggestions made by some prisoners who are linked to state-run lobbies. Such transfers are sort of an insult to other political prisoners. This has been seen before and there are many different examples in this regard.
Based on this conviction, I will continue my hunger strike in support of my father until his demands are met.
