Iran is among the three last countries of the world as far as women’s participation is concerned.
This was acknowledged by Mohsen Rannani in a program broadcast by the state-run national television.
He said women’s participation was 13 percent before the revolution in 1977, but it dropped to 8 percent ten years later in 1987. In 1997, it returned to 14 per cent, and it should be around 14-15 per cent in 2017.
Rannani hereby acknowledged that women’s social and economic participation decreased after the revolution and has just reached the rate before the revolution, some 40 years ago.
