Fahimeh Farahmandpour, Interior Ministry’s advisor on Women and Family Affairs, addressed a meeting at the Administrative Council of Sanandaj, Iranian Kurdistan on November 11, 2015.
Presenting demographic statistics in the province, she said, “More than one-third of the population in Kurdistan Province are young women under 29 years of age, while only 17 out of 500 recreational centers in the province is devoted to them.” Farahmandpour also said the number of unemployed girls in Kurdistan is higher than the country’s average and the situation of divorce, addiction and other social ills in this province is not desirable either.
Expressing opposition to those who expect to receive special budget allocation for women, a misogynous Farahmandpour asserted, “There has been no mention of men in the budget for education, health, medical treatment and etc., therefore it is illogical to expect special budget allocated to women.”
