A few days ago Hakimeh Shokri, a political prisoner, civil rights activist, and defender of families who lost their loved ones during the 2009 uprisings, who has been in prison for 2 years, was summoned to the public prosecutor’s office. The judge asked this political prisoner: Are you still standing by your position?
Hakimeh Shokri answered: One of our demands is the release of political prisoners. How can I forgo this demand when my friends and I are still in prison?
Judge Moghise: Then why did you request a conditional release?
Shokri: I did not request to be pardoned. I asked for a conditional release and this is a prisoner’s right.
The judge gave the final answer: Go and serve the rest of your time in jail!
