State-run ‘Farhang News’ wrote, “The freedom to choose one’s clothing is against the law in Iran. Those who speak openly about freedom of clothing are publicly speaking of opposing the country’s laws.
Based on the Criminal Law of 1983, those not abiding by the mullahs’ clothing guidelines in public will be convicted to 74 lashes in addition to their punishment.
Based on articles 2 and 4 of a bill passed in 1986 ,those who wear clothing against sharia law in public will be prosecuted and sentenced to either 40 lashes or 200,000 rials.“Employees found guilty will be temporarily suspended from work in addition to the above punishments and can be banned for two year ban or expelled from their governmental job,” the source added.
