Amid the continuing wave of arrests following nationwide protests in Iran, reports indicate the arrest and ongoing enforced disappearance of four sisters in Tehran. Weeks after their detention, their whereabouts and legal status remain unknown.
Niusha Nakhai and Mona Nakhai were arrested approximately 26 days ago, while Kimia Davoudi and Tara Davoudi were detained nearly three weeks ago by security forces and transferred to undisclosed locations.
To date, no official information has been released regarding their place of detention or their legal situation.
Tara Davoudi, a former surveying (geomatics) student at Isfahan University, and her sister Kimia Davoudi, a former law student at Razi University of Kermanshah, were arrested without a judicial warrant and reportedly subjected to violence by the regime’s forces. More than 21 days after their arrest, their families remain completely uninformed about their fate.
In a separate case, in the early hours of January 9, 2026, security forces raided the family home of Mona and Niusha Nakhai and arrested the two sisters. The stated reason for their arrest was the presence of their private vehicle on one of Tehran’s streets on the night of January 8, 2026.
According to reports, the two detainees have been denied their most basic rights, including access to legal counsel and regular contact with their family, and have been allowed only two brief phone calls with relatives since their arrest.
In another development, three Kurdish citizens, including two women, Saba Khormayi and Somayeh Nazari, and a 14-year-old child, and Bahar Akbari, were arrested on January 8–9 in the cities of Harsin and Kermanshah by the regime’s forces and transferred to juvenile detention centers.
Somayeh Nazari faces charges of “moharebeh” (waging war against God), raising concerns about potentially severe sentences against her.
