More than 40 days have passed since the arrest of Leila Saremi, mother of political prisoner Farzad Moazami Goodarzi, yet she remains in prolonged pretrial detention at Tircheh Block prison in Borujerd without due process.
More than 40 days since her arrest, no formal charges have been filed against Leila Saremi. This indefinite detention violates principles of fair trial under Iranian law and international human rights standards, raising serious concerns about her legal fate. Judicial and security officials have refused to provide transparent information to her family or lawyer.
Security Raid on the Moazami Goodarzi Family Home
In the early hours of Tuesday, July 22, 2025, security agents stormed the residence of Moazami Goodarzi family in Borujerd. Eyewitnesses reported that the agents entered the home violently and without presenting a valid court order. During the raid, both Leila Saremi and her husband, Ahmad Moazami Goodarzi, were severely beaten before being taken into custody.
The operation created an atmosphere of fear across the neighborhood. Neighbors reported that agents insulted and humiliated family members while conducting a full search of the house, seizing all electronic and communication devices.
Detention at Tircheh Block Prison and Interrogation Pressures
Following her arrest, Leila Saremi was transferred directly to TirchehBlock prison in Borujerd. Sources say she was placed in solitary confinement and subjected to intense interrogations in the initial hours of detention, during which she was observed in poor mental and physical condition.
Denied access to her family and legal counsel, and held in prolonged solitary confinement, her treatment has been described as a form of “white torture”—psychological pressure aimed at breaking her spirit.
