On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Iranian border guard forces shot and critically wounded 26-year-old Pershang Qobad Zahiri, a female kolbar, mother of a three-year-old child, and resident of the Nowsud district in Paveh County.
Pershang Qobad Zahiri was attacked while carrying goods along the dangerous border routes. Tragically, on Friday, November 22, 2024, she succumbed to her severe injuries and passed away in a hospital in Kermanshah.
Reports indicate that Pershang Qobad Zahiri was shot directly from behind by border forces, underscoring the brutal nature of the assault.
Adding to the tragedy, security forces have since detained her father, Idris Qobad Zahiri, and her brother, compounding the grief and injustice faced by her family.
The clerical regime’s state security forces systematically shoot the poor kolbars who have no choice but to carry heavy loads across the border to earn a living. Pershang is the first female kolbar to be shot and killed while doing her job.
