Zohreh Sayyadi, a Cancer Patient, is to Serve One Year in Evin Prison
A social activist, who has cancer and is in dire physical condition due to incomplete treatment, has been imprisoned in Evin Prison to serve her year-long sentence. Zohreh Sayyadi is originally from Sistan and Baluchestan and resides in Tehran.
Ms. Sayyadi has a degree in literature and has been an activist concerning the rights of homeless child laborers, undocumented children, and literacy programs for women and homeless children, especially in deprived areas of Sistan and Baluchestan. She has devoted most of her life to the suffering children of Sistan and Baluchestan.
On Tuesday, May 29, 2023, the Tehran Province Court of Appeals upheld Zohreh Sayyadi’s one-year prison sentence. Simultaneously, she was summoned to the Implementation of the Verdicts Branch. On Wednesday, May 30, after appearing in court, Zohreh Sayyadi was transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence.
The implementation of Zohreh Sayyadi’s imprisonment takes place. However, her treatment remained incomplete, and she needs medical attention.
On December 10, 2019, Ms. Sayyadi was arrested by security forces in Andisheh City, Tehran, and transferred to Evin Prison. She was released from prison on December 23 after posting bail. Finally, in 2022, the mullahs’ Judiciary sentenced her to one year of imprisonment.
