Coordinated teachers’ protests in Tehran, Fars, Khuzestan, and Lorestan with women’s prominent participation, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
In Tehran, teachers held a protest across from the parliament against the regime’s failure to address their demands. Women teachers made up most of the protesters. They chanted, “The teacher is awake and hates hollow promises.”
In Lorestan Province, a group of teachers in this province gathered outside the Department of Education. Again, most of the teachers were women. They demand their salaries raised to 80% of the salaries of the Scientific Faculty. Some of the women had brought their children with them to the protest. One of their placards read, “We complain about differences, not poverty. Our demand is the elimination of discrimination.”
The coordinated teachers’ protests with similar demands were also held in the southwestern Khuzestan and southern Fars provinces.
Young teachers with Green Report Cards
On Monday, September 13, young teachers with Green Report Cards held the tenth day of their protest in Tehran outside the Ministry of Education in the capital. They held a sit-in protest with teachers joining them from other cities staying up all night.
On Sunday, September 12, security forces lobbed tear gas at them to disperse the crowd of protesters. The young teachers with Green Report Cards, however, resisted and stayed together to continue their protest.
Ms. Soheila Sadeq, chair of the NCRI Education Committee, sent a message to the protesting teachers. In her message, she hailed the freedom-loving teachers and blamed the regime for failing to respond to teachers’ legitimate demands with tear gas and beating. Ms. Sadeq said, “So long as the mullahs’ disgraceful regime is in power, poverty, unemployment, and inflation will continue to persist. The only way out is to rise up and hold uprisings.”
