After Atena Faraghdani’s lawyer shook his client’s hands in their meeting, a court date was assigned to them for allegations on the pretext of their illegitimate relationship. The court will be 10 am next Saturday in branch 116 of Tehran’s general criminal court.
The allegations, as well as insults addressed to Faraghdani by prison guards, pushed her to go on hunger strike for three days in prison.
Faraghdani’s mother protested the charges, calling them “false allegations” and “illegal and against sharia”. Faraghdani says her cartoons are the main reason for her interrogations as they have been critical to the regime. She is currently held in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
