Forough Khosravi, an elementary school teacher with a PhD in Education, was arrested on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in the city of Behbahan, Khuzestan province, by agents of the IRGC Intelligence Organization and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Her arrest came after a previous incident on June 20, when six IRGC intelligence agents raided her home without her presence and without presenting any court warrant. During the raid, her phone and several personal items were confiscated. According to reports, Ms. Khosravi’s daughter was home at the time and witnessed the raid, which created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
On the morning of July 29, an unknown caller contacted Forough Khosravi and summoned her to appear at the courthouse. She refused, citing the lack of any formal notice or summons. Just a few hours later, at around 2:30 p.m., IRGC agents returned with an arrest warrant and took her into custody. As of now, her whereabouts remain unknown, and no official charges or reasons for her detention have been made public. Her family remains completely in the dark.
Judiciary at the Service of Repression: Agents Cleared Despite Teacher’s Complaint
Following the June 20th raid on Forough Khosravi’s house, she filed a formal complaint against the IRGC agents. However, the prosecutor of Branch 2 in Behbahan, ruled in favor of the security forces and issued a dismissal order, effectively clearing the agents of any wrongdoing.
Forough Khosravi with a PhD in Education was previously expelled from Payam Noor University after the 2009 protests — a pattern seen among many educators and citizens in Iran who challenge the regime.
