The 74th Week of “No to Executions Tuesdays” Observed in 47 Prisons
Families Demand Freedom for Their Imprisoned Children
The 74th week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign was observed in 47 prisons across Iran, despite mounting repressive conditions in Iranian prisons.
In a statement issued to mark this week’s campaign, the hunger-striking prisoners in 47 prisons emphasized the growing threats to the lives of prisoners and the ongoing executions:
“We had previously warned that prisoners’ lives are in grave danger and that executions could increase…. Regrettably, our warnings have proven true…
“We strongly condemn the sudden and forcible relocation of defenseless prisoners under harsh and repressive security measures.”
Noting the explosion on Monday in Evin Prison, they wrote, “According to reports, all general wards of Evin Prison — including the women’s ward, as well as wards 4, 7, and 8 — have sustained serious damage. Prison guards have surrounded prisoners in these general wards, leaving them without access to water or food, in extremely dire and terrifying conditions.”
They strongly condemned the sudden and forced relocation of defenseless prisoners under harsh and repressive security measures: “Given the wartime circumstances, prisoners are at extreme risk. We urge the noble people of Iran to do whatever they can to demand the release of all detainees. In particular, we call on them to gather in front of prisons and not to leave the prisoners alone during this perilous time.”

The families of political prisoners demand freedom for their loved ones
The family of political prisoner Vahid Bani Amerian released a video on social media demanding the release of their son and other political detainees.
In the video, they passionately declare: “Free our children. Free our sons and daughters. Free the prisoners. No to executions.”
The family also emphasized the urgent need to halt all executions, stating that their children have no freedom of movement inside prison and cannot even protect themselves by changing locations.
They stressed that the government bears full responsibility for the lives of prisoners, and any harm that comes to them will be an unforgivable crime.
On Monday, June 23, at approximately 11:00 AM local time, Evin Prison sustained extensive damage following a powerful explosion. The blasts rocked multiple parts of the facility, including areas housing political detainees.
Overnight Security Operation and Mass Transfers
According to reliable sources, in the aftermath of the explosion in Evin Prison, a large-scale nighttime operation was carried out by security forces, involving the deployment of special prisoner transport units around the perimeter of Evin Prison. Detainees were reportedly relocated abruptly and under duress. They were not allowed to collect their medications and personal belongings.
Women Prisoners Sent to Qarchak Prison
It has also been confirmed that the female prisoners in Evin have been transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin — a facility known for its poor conditions and history of abuse. These transfers were carried out without notifying the prisoners’ families and under coercive and threatening circumstances.
Silence from Authorities Fuels Fear and Speculation
As families scramble for answers, Iranian judicial and prison authorities have remained silent, offering no official explanation regarding the cause of the explosions or the mass relocations. This lack of transparency has deepened public anxiety and fueled widespread speculation about the condition of the detainees and the motivations behind the government’s actions.
