Ten Baha’i women residing in Isfahan—Shana Shoghi-Far, Negin Khademi, Neda Emadi, Neda Badakhsh, Arezou Sobhanian, Yeganeh Rouhbakhs, Mojgan Shahrezaei, Parastoo Hakim, Yeganeh Agahi, and Bahareh Lotfi—have been collectively sentenced to 90 years of prison and additional punishments by the Iranian Judiciary.
Recently, Branch 1 of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced Negin Khademi (34), Shana Shoghi-Far (27), Yeganeh Agahi (31), Parastoo Hakim (47), Mojgan Shahrezaei (32), Yeganeh Rouhbakhs (19), Arezou Sobhanian (48), and Neda Badakhsh (60) each to 10 years in prison and a 100 million toman fine. Bahareh Lotfi (27) and Neda Emadi (42) were sentenced to 5 years in prison and a 50 million toman fine.
These sentences were delivered in person, citing national security concerns. In addition to the prison terms, each woman is banned from leaving the country and using social media.
The women faced charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “educational and promotional activities contrary to Islamic law.” Their alleged activities included organizing language classes, yoga, nature excursions, music, painting, and teaching children.
The women were arrested on October 23, 2023, by security forces and were released on bail two months later, pending the completion of legal proceedings.
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) strongly condemns the prison sentences and confiscation of assets imposed on Baha’i women by the brutal judiciary of the Iranian regime.
