Condemning additional prison sentences for five female political prisoners in Evin Prison
The Iranian regime’s judiciary has sentenced Narges Mohammadi, Varisha Moradi, Pakhshan Azizi, and Mahboubeh Rezaei to an additional 6 months in prison each, and Parivash Moslemi to an additional 3 months in prison, for protesting the execution of Reza Rasaei on August 6, 2024.
The NCRI Women’s Committee considers these unjust sentences a blatant violation of women’s rights and a trampling of international laws. It calls for the intervention of the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran to annul all inhumane sentences against female political prisoners and to demand their immediate release.
The NCRI Women’s Committee especially highlights the call by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, for the release of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, and stresses to the UN the necessity of adopting a firm policy against the mullahs’ regime and its repressive actions against women in Iran.
