Marzieh Nasseri is sentenced to 4 years and Sakineh Parvaneh to 7.5 years in prison
After nine months of detention in limbo, political prisoner Marzieh Nasseri (Sara) was sentenced to four years in prison.
The Revolutionary Court of Mashhad charged Marzieh Nasseri with “propaganda against the state” and participation in illegal gatherings.
Marzieh Nasseri, 41, a resident of Mashhad, was arrested on December 6, 2022, during the protests in this city. She was held in solitary confinement for 20 days in the detention center of the Department of Intelligence in Mashhad and subsequently transferred to the women’s ward of the Central Prison of Mashhad after completing her interrogations.
In the meantime, the 5th Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad has condemned political prisoner Sakineh Parvaneh to 7.5 years of imprisonment.
Sakineh Parvaneh is presently detained in the women’s ward of the Central Prison of Mashhad, also known as Vakilabad Prison.
She was sentenced to 7.5 years of imprisonment for insulting Ali Khamenei, the mullahs’ supreme leader, “propaganda against the state,” and “having contact and cooperation with foreign media.” Judge Mansouri informed her of her sentence on September 25, 2023.
The judge has reportedly said that 2.5 years from her previous sentence will be added to the new verdict.
The last time Sakineh Parvaneh was arrested was on April 4, 2023.
She had been also arrested less than a month before, on March 7, and released after four days.
The resistant Kurdish political prisoner Sakineh Parvaneh was serving the fourth year of her sentence when she was released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on February 15, 2023.
She had been sentenced to 5 years in prison on May 25, 2020.
Marzieh Nasseri, Sakineh Parvaneh, and Azam Gholami are three political prisoners detained in Ward 5 of the women’s ward in Vakilabad Prison, deprived of access to medical facilities and treatment, and in unsanitary conditions.
They are held with ordinary and violent criminals in the same place, in violation of the principle of separation of crimes.
