The misogynist clerical regime has again sentenced Narges Mohammadi to prison and flogging. The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) condemns Ms. Mohammadi’s re-arrest and the harsh sentencing. It urges the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and other women’s rights organizations to not remain silent in the face of repression, executions, and criminal sentences by the regime judiciary and take urgent action to secure the release of political prisoners, particularly female prisoners.
Terrified of the anger and disgust of the Iranian people, especially women, and the rise of popular uprisings, the clerical regime has stepped up executions, intensified repression, and flogging, and sentenced political prisoners to lengthy prison terms. The Iranian Resistance has persistently highlighted the urgent need to visit Iran’s prisons by an international fact-finding mission.
