Kurdish civil activist Kajal Nasri remains in the Intelligence Department’s detention center in Sanandaj
Three female civil activists have reported to prison to serve their sentences. The three female activists are Bahareh Soleimani and Nazanin Mohammad-Nejad in Tehran, and Zahra Mohammadi in Sanandaj, the capital of Iranian Kurdistan Province.
Kurdish civil activist Kajal Nasri has been detained for three weeks with undetermined status in the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj.

Bahareh Soleimani
Bahareh Soleimani, 44, is a nurse residing in Tehran. She reported to Evin Prison on Sunday, January 2, 2022, to begin serving her time in prison. She received a sentence of six years and eight months in July on charges of “participating in running an illegal group” and “propaganda activities against the state.”
Bahareh Soleimani suffers from asthma and the forensics office has verified that she is not physically fit to serve time in prison.

Nazanin Mohammad-Nejad
Nazanin Mohammad-Nejad began serving her prison term on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
She received a sentence of three years and four months in July.
Security forces raided the residence of Ms. Mohammad-Nejad in Tehran at night on December 9, 2020. They took her to the detention center of the IRGC Intelligence in Ward 2A of Evin Prison.
Born in 1988 in Mahshahr, Nazanin Mohammad-Nejad is a student of the Russian language at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabai University. She graduated in communications from Tehran University. She has written many articles about the conditions of students and women, and the multiple structural discriminations against workers, women, and other marginalized sectors.

Zahra Mohammadi
A civil activist and a teacher of the Kurdish language, Zahra Mohammadi has been summoned by the Justice Department of Sanandaj to begin serving her five-year prison term.
The Supreme Court has turned down Ms. Mohammadi’s appeal for the revision of her sentence according to Article 477.
Zahra Mohammadi, 30, lives in Sanandaj. She has a master’s degree in Geopolitics from the University of Birjand.
Agents of the Intelligence Department broke into Ms. Mohammadi’s residence on May 23, 2019, and arrested her. She was conditionally and temporarily released after six months on a bail of 700 million Tomans.
In July 2020, Zahra Mohammadi was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the charge of “forming a group against national security.” Later in October, her sentence was commuted to five years.

Kajal Nasri
After three weeks, Kajal Nasri, a cultural activist, continues to remain in detention at the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj.
Kajal Nasri, 26, is from Tangsir village near Sanandaj. Intelligence agents arrested her on December 12, 2021, without presenting any legal warrant. Ms. Nasri is deprived of having access to a lawyer.
A source close to the Nasri family said she had recently made a brief call home.
The Nasri family had been inquiring about Kajal from the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj for three weeks but they have not been able to visit her, so far. There is no information available on the reason(s) why she has been arrested.
