Two unidentified motorcyclists attacked and injured Mrs. Gohar Eshghi at 11 a.m. on December 9, 2021.
Mrs. Eshghi, the elderly mother of Sattar Beheshti, a worker and a weblogger who was tortured to death in 2012, was on her way to the cemetery to visit her son’s grave.
According to reliable reports, one of the cyclists got off the bike and pushed Mrs. Eshghi to the ground. She hit the floor face down. Passersby took her to the hospital.
In a video recording, she explained that she went unconscious when she hit the ground. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a hospital.

An eyewitness said, “I was in my shop when I heard some cries, seeking help. When I approached the crowd I saw that Sattar’s mother was lying on the ground with her face covered in blood.”
The witness said, “The mother (Gohar Eshghi) is a shining star in Robat Karim (neighborhood). Most of the people know her. For years, she has been going to the cemetery every day at this time of the day to visit her son.”
The attack on this elderly mother, famous for seeking justice for her son, outraged public opinion. The clerical regime’s security institutions have not reacted to this incident yet.
Moussa Ghaznfarabadi, chair of the parliamentary Judicial and Legal Committee, declared, “There is probably no possibility of identifying the assailant motorcyclists. But the security and law enforcement institutions must take action.”
Ghazanfarabadi, who previously was a judge presiding the revolutionary court, told the semi-official asriran.com website that he was not sure if the parliament would require intervention in this case.
“If we do receive reports that indicate shortfalls with regard to an issue, we will certainly pursue the case.”
Mrs. Eshghi and her daughter have been intimidated and harassed over the years after her son’s death to stop seeking justice for him. They have been arrested multiple times and detained for various periods.
