After 25 days of hunger strike, Golrokh Iraee is in dire health conditions.
Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee were unlawfully transferred on January 24, 2018, from Evin Prison and banished to the notorious Qarchak Prison in Varamin.
They started a hunger strike after 10 days when officials did not heed their demand to be returned to the Women’s Ward of Evin and observe the principle of separation of prisoners’ categories.
According to Mr. Hossein Daemi, Atena’s father, the two women political prisoner have been deprived of making phone calls to their families since last week, after they refused to do so in the presence of the so-called law enforcement officers in prison. Their parents have not had any information of them for more than a week.
On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, prison officials prevented Mr. Daemi from contacting his daughter even from inside the prison and in the presence of law enforcement officers.
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran urges all international organizations defending women’s rights and human rights to adopt effective measures to secure the release of the two courageous women, Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee, presently incarcerated in Qarchak Prison.
