Marieh Nabavi: The future is inevitably free

August 7, 2016
in Women of Iranian Resistance

She looks so innocent and yet anxious…

Her tears reveal her hidden pain…

She sheds tears and I find myself beset by the sorrow of her innocent gaze…

The innocence of a great nation that has been condensed in her small heart…

To return her beautiful smile, I must wear an armor and put on my helmet and step onto the road…

Hello, I’m Marieh Nabavi.

I shall never forget the innocent eyes of my country’s children.  Their love has never nor will ever leave my heart.  I live for those children and my heart beats for them.  I will try my best to restore their beautiful smiles.

We will achieve victory together with the women of our movement who lead the struggle for freedom against the (Iranian) regime.

I chose this path a long time ago in Evin (Prison), precisely when I had been arrested together with some family members of political prisoners while visiting Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq’s grave.

In prison, I found myself among women who had suffered greatly. At nights, I could hear the screams of women and children.  Then it was my turn to undergo interrogation, torture, and all the hardships of being in jail…

The situation convinced me to make one of the most serious decisions of my life, to do something to change everyone’s life and future, so that everyone can finally experience a true life, a future with no prisons, no torture, no arrests…

I was released after a short while because they had no evidence to keep me in detention. Then, I immediately set off to join the PMOI at Camp Ashraf.

It’s been a very long journey ever since my decision in Evin.  And today I am ever more convinced that freedom is the inevitable future of Iran, a day when all of Iran’s children will happily laugh and Iran will become a cradle for freedom.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
