My name is Nayyer Saadat Nassabi.
My beloved sister, Azam, was executed by the Iranian regime solely for seeking freedom.
She was older than me, 20 when she was arrested for her engagement in activities in support of the opposition PMOI. She was readily taken to Kermanshah’s Dizelabad Prison where she was executed after being severely tortured.
Next, was me. I was arrested after Azam. I was 21 at that point in time. Khomeini’s regime would arrest and imprison active girls like us who were mostly university students. This was their method of silencing anyone who demanded freedom.
I came to know the PMOI in the depths of the Iranian regime’s dark and damp dungeons…
The women in this movement were very sincere and empathic as well as caring and giving towards others. They were always the first ones to approach and look after those who had sustained injuries from tortures. Whenever someone was sad or having a bad day, they were the first to console them with so much kindness, lifting their spirits and bringing smile to their faces. Their affectionate hands had healed so many wounds; and how soothing they were during hard and exasperating times…
I spent one year and eight months in prison in limbo.
My indictment was sent to Tehran three times before I was finally released. Then, I decided to leave the country and join the PMOI in Camp Ashraf.
Ever since, I have been part of an inspiring cause: the cause of freedom…
