General Director of the Public Court in Khorramabad (capital of western Iranian Lorestan Province) announced formation of special branches of the public court in the capital to investigate charges related to improper veiling.
Hossein Reza Delfan told reporters, “If there are people who publicly promote manifestations of non-veiling in society, the judiciary will dealt with them decisively and according to the law and their cases will be investigated in the shortest possible time. Those who appear in public with the religiously-prescribed veil will be sentenced to imprisonment between 10 days to two months and/or payment of cash fine.”
Obviously, Iranian women’s defiance of the compulsory veil has forced the regime to resort to such punishment in order to control the volatile state of society.
