Mehdi Mohammadi, Narges Mohammadi’s brother demanded that urgent medical care be provided for his sister. Narges Mohammadi is suffering from various nerve or lung illnesses. But prison authorities are opposing her transfer to a hospital.
In a letter Mehdi Mohammadi described his sister’s conditions and said, “Narges’ illness is advancing at such a rate that her dose of 4 pills a day has increased to 15. Unfortunately the public prosecutor has not issued any orders on her condition.”
He says Mohammadi’s illnesses are the results of psychological, mental and physical pressure imposed on her in prison.
Prison authorities refusing to provide medical care for her comes at a time that Evin physicians have said Mrs. Mohammadi can no longer tolerate being held behind bars.
Narges Mohammadi was first arrested in 2010, and then arrested once again in May 2012 and released due to her illness. This civil activist was once again imprisoned in May 2015 under new charges. (Deutsche Welle – September 8, 2015)
