“Based on the emphases of the supreme leader and the chief justice, countering cultural abnormalities must have priority on the Prosecutor’s Office’s agenda,” announced Heydar Fattahi, the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Pardis.
Fattahi said, “One of the examples of these abnormalities is mal-veiling. Most of the cases referred to the judicial authorities in Pardis, concern cases of violation of
chastity and therefore, the Prosecutor of Pardis will place countering mal-veiling and use of see-through clothing on its agenda.”
Fattahi said, “According to Article 638 of the Islamic Penal Code, it is clearly declared that mal-veiling is punishable and according to the amendment to this article, women who appear in public places and streets without the religious veil, will be sentenced to imprisonment from 10 days to two months and fines of 50 to 500 thousand toumans.”
“Article 638 of the Islamic Penal Code also states that any form of mal-veiling that leads to vice, in that case the mal-vieled person will be punished by 74 lashes of the whip or imprisonment of up to two months, while the judge has to consider physical punishments for these types of felonies,” Fattahi added.
