The conditions of political prisoner Sedigheh Moradi has been reported as critical and yet Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence interrogators are preventing her transfer to hospitals outside of prison.
On Saturday, 29 August Sedigheh Moradi, 55 years of age and mother of one child, suddenly suffered a severe drop in blood pressure for unknown reasons. Her blood reached the risky level of 6 over 4 and she was left in very dangerous conditions.
Her cellmates rushed her to Evin prison’s clinic yet she was returned to the ward after a short while without receiving any serious treatment. Ministry of Intelligence interrogators had prevented her transfer to a hospital outside of prison.
Despite the fact that Sedigheh Moradi’s physical condition is currently very chronic and considered dangerous, she has been left to remain in her prison cell in an attempt to impose more pressure on this political prisoner.
Sedigheh Moradi, who was arrested and imprisoned by the Iranian regime for the first time the 1980s, has been suffering from numerous illnesses such as severe bone pains in the wrist and knee since then.
There are currently some 20 female political prisoners held in the women’s ward of Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison.
Moradi was arrested in May 2011 when Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) agents raided her home. She was then transferred to solitary confinement in ward 209 of Evin Prison, known as the MOIS torture chambers, where she was placed under physical and psychological torture by MOIS interrogators.
