Political prisoner Maryam Akbari Monfared who was arrested in the 2009 protests against the ruling regime in Iran, has not been allowed to have any vacation after six years to receive any medical treatment. Her husband complained about hindering by prison officials despite depositing heavy bail. Mrs. Monfared has three daughters who have not been allowed to visit their mother in the past six years.
Mrs. Monfared was serving her sentence in Gohardasht Prison. In 2010, she was transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin. After she wrote to Ahmad Shahid, UN Special Representative on Iran, she was taken to the women’s ward in Evin Prison.
